Education Impact Academy Trust is a MAT incorporating The Hive College, Wilson Stuart School, Queensbury School and Mayfield School. The Hive College is based in Erdington, Birmingham and is a Specialist Further Education College for learners aged 19-25 years with Special Educational Needs and disabilities.  In November 2023 we were graded Outstanding in every single aspect of an Ofsted Inspection.

Our adopted college motto is ‘Believing is achieving’, which resonates through everything we do at The Hive and it’s at the heart of what we want our students to aspire to. With this in mind, we are looking to recruit two General Assistants to support our wider catering provision across our site.

We are looking for two enthusiastic, individuals who will assist in the continued development of this successful catering operation, whose duties will include: assisting with the preparation and cooking of food, serving students with SEND needs, washing up, kitchen cleaning and general kitchen duties.

Previous experience in a similar role would be desirable, however, full training will be given.  Candidates must hold or be willing to undertake the Level 2 Food Safety training and any other training commensurate with the post.

The right candidate will:

  • Support our values and ethos.
  • Have a clear understanding of engaging with young adults with SEND needs.
  • Bring enthusiasm and energy to their role.
  • Have a flexible and positive approach to challenge and change.
  • Be a positive role model in the college.

Informal conversations are warmly welcomed. If you would like to arrange an informal visit please email reception@hivecollege.org.uk.

We can offer:

  • Happy and enthusiastic staff and students who are proud of their college.
  • A supportive working environment that promotes teamwork among the staff.
  • A friendly and motivated staff team.
  • A positive learning environment where young adults thrive in an outstanding college.
  • A collaborative and inclusive culture.
  • Comprehensive induction and probation support and regular opportunities for professional development and growth.
  • We offer 10 staff training days across the academic year; one or two of these days may be aggregated which means you complete training outside of normal working hours in twilight sessions.
  • Employee Assistance Programme via BHSF – free totally confidential support.
  • Access to discounts and offers via BHSF.
  • Access to a generous pension scheme known as the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) for support staff or Teachers Pension Scheme for Teachers.
  • Generous annual leave entitlement for support staff based on length of service, starting at 29 days pro-rata, rising to 32 at 5 years’ plus service and 34 following 10 years’ plus service. Teachers annual leave is in line with Teachers Pay & Conditions.
  • Onsite parking at all sites.

If you are determined, ambitious, hardworking and you meet our requirements, then we would love to hear from you.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students and expect all staff to share this commitment. Successful candidates will be subject to all necessary pre-employment checks, including an enhanced DBS, Childcare Disqualification (where applicable), qualifications, medical fitness, identity and right to work. All applicants will be required to provide two suitable references. An online search (and a prohibition check for teachers) will also be carried out as part of due diligence on all short-listed candidates.
